FAMILY DESTINATION SEAL OF APPROVAL

WHO WE ARE

We are a Swiss holiday resort that is particularly well suited for family holidays. The tourism service providers gear their offers specifically to the needs of the "family" guest group. We continuously seek to improve the quality of, and pay special attention to the sustainability of our services.

WHAT WE WANT

Our aim is to offer children, together with their parents or accompanying adults, a stay that fully meets their wishes and needs. Family-friendliness is at the heart of our efforts and is supported by all signatory service providers as well as the local population.

HOW WE WANT TO ACHIEVE OUR GOAL

We recognise the quality criteria of the FAMILY DESTINATION label, which are binding for all awarded locations and are periodically reviewed by independent experts.

Sustainability written large

Switzerland as the most sustainable destination in the world - not a small goal is being pursued by the Swisstainable movement, which takes a holistic approach to sustainability. In addition to nature and the environment, society and the economy also take centre stage. Sustainability is an enrichment. Sustainable travelling does not mean doing without, but rather travelling more consciously and with more enjoyment. We are proud to be a partner of this movement. Our biggest goal achieved so far: our solar installation. We attach great importance to the fact that sustainability does not mean doing without.

Solar System Hannigalp

Sustainability is a top priority at our Aktiv Hotel & Spa Hannigalp. To cover part of our energy requirements, we have installed a 700m² photovoltaic system with an output of 94.3 kWp. Thanks to around 300 days of sunshine in Grächen, the system produces 120,000 kilowatt hours of electricity a year, which covers 50% of the hotel's needs and the neighbouring residential building (with heat pump). Until a few years ago, tennis was still played on the spacious court in front of the hotel. However, as the court was used less and less, we decided to install a solar system here in spring 2022. The investment has aroused the interest of our guests and local residents alike and we would like to send out a clear signal of our environmentally conscious behaviour.

We are committed to green and sustainable energy and have converted our tennis court into a solar system since September 2022. We also want to give something back to our guests and have been offering them a solar reduction of 5% on the room rate since the system was commissioned! With our sustainable approach, we not only want to send a signal, but also show the way for responsible tourism. Book directly through us and you will automatically receive this reduction.

"We have been planning to repurpose the tennis court, which is rarely used, for some time now. In 2022, we then decided to invest in a sustainable future and tackle the project."

Swisstainable

A new way of traveling

Sustainable travelling does not necessarily mean making sacrifices. Sustainable travelling stands for more awareness, enjoyment and depth. This is why Destination Switzerland is pursuing a sustainability strategy that is typical of Switzerland: Swisstainable. Swisstainable is a Swiss sustainability programme from tourism for tourism. The programme focuses on the sustainable development of Switzerland as a tourist destination.

Untouched nature moves us in a way that no other can. It leaves a long-lasting impression. With spectacular mountains, magnificent waterfalls, wild gorges, mystical forests and beautiful lakes, Switzerland is a must-see destination. Our nature has the power to energise and give us humans new strength. We want to preserve this – for many generations to come.

In addition to our solar installation, we have also implemented other measures to enhance the natural environment:

  • Electrotaxi (2 units)
  • Local & regional purchasing of products
  • No “disposable products” in the room or in the take-away area
  • Waste reduction and disposal
  • Vegetable & Herb Garden (Summer)
  • Water-saving measures
  • Reduce packaging, avoid plastic
  • Irrigation of the green areas via Grächner water pipes “pump systems”

With our sustainable approach, we not only want to send a signal, but also show the way for responsible tourism.
